Student Assistance Program
The Student Assistance Program is designed to meet the need for increased support for students and teachers dealing with substance use issues. The Student Assistance Program in Twin Valley Middle High School is staffed by SAP-Dawn Borys. Some of the services include:
- Peer programs/ group support
- Presenting information about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in student classes
- Providing community awareness presentations on tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs
- Offering group and individual counseling based on identified needs
- Working with Diversion Board for referrals
- Setting up referral and service agreement with area treatment programs
- Providing intervention services for those students who are identified as having difficulty dealing with stress, peer relationships, dysfunctional families, and personal and school related adjustments
- Providing intervention services for those students who are identified as having substance abuse problems
